MLCN Investment Management Corp. Scholarship

MLCN Investment Management Corp. partners with Indspire to offer three bursaries up to $10,000.00 per student, per administrative school year and eleven scholarships up to $5,000.00 per student, per administrative school year

The total awarded to date is $640,650 which is over 120 awards, over a 6 year period. All recipients are Muskeg Lake Band Members.

Some Scholarship Criteria’s are as follows:

Scholarship Category: Post-Secondary Program of Study: Preference to be given to career interests that are relevant to the work performed at MLCNIMC. Those career interests include, but are not limited to: 1) Economics, Finance, Accounting; 2) Engineering and Law; 3) Administration and Operations; 4) Communications and Marketing; 5) Skilled Trades; and 6) Information Technology and Cyber Security. Academic Achievement: min 70% average Year of Study: Any Indigenous affiliation: Member of the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation

Dear Sponsor of the MLCN Investment Management Corporation Bursary,

My name is Shantel Wilson, and I am the recent recipient of the bursary named above. I currently study at the University of Saskatchewan, and in my second year of Art’s & Science, I also have applied for the early intake process to the Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing program for the intake of Fall 2025. I am in positive spirits and hoping to gain acceptance into the program so I can make an impact in rural Indigenous communities as a Registered Nurse in the future! I am hopeful for success in my future goals.

By receiving this support from your corporation, it will provide many opportunities for myself and my 3 young children. I have 3 children ages 7, 4, and 2 who look up to me every single day. My eldest daughter plays hockey in our local town and loves it, my middle daughter is in skating lessons because she is set on playing hockey next year like her older sister, and as for my 2 year old son, he likes to sit at the rink and watch his older sisters -for now! The impact this sponsorship has on myself and my family is tremendous so that myself and my children can continue to do the things we love to do, all while I reach for my future goals as a Registered Nurse and continuing to show my children to never give up on your dreams!

Dear Sponsor of the Indspire’s Building Brighter Futures award,

Thank you so much for supporting my studies! This award has lifted a heavy load off my back and granted me so much more free time to do school but also focus on my mental health rather then working. I’m attending the University of Alberta in Education, majoring in Math and minoring in Physics. I love to teach and I can’t wait to start. I already tutor lots and help my friends in classes. I also recently started volunteering in an elementary school to gain some experience with younger kids. It would not be possible for me to do all these things without this scholarship. This grant has also enabled me to maintain some of my hobbies this year because I normally don’t have extra money. I love to ski and play sports so I’m very grateful that I can do these things this year!

September 27th, 2018, marked the 30th Anniversary of the first commercial use urban reserve in Canada This visionary achievement was celebrated with the City of Saskatoon whose enthusiasm and partnership helped pave a new way towards First Nations independence.

The celebrations were organized by Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, MLCN-IMC, The City of Saskatoon and the University of Saskatchewan. Celebrations included a Pipe Ceremony, a sod turning celebration of the new SIGA headquarters, panel discussions at the Gordon Oaks Centre at the University of Saskatchewan and a celebratory dinner at the Saskatoon Inn.
